Upper School Mandarin Teacher (Grades 9-12)

Calhoun is seeking a full-time teacher for all levels of High School Mandarin for the 2010-2011 school year. Candidates must be interested in collaborative, interdisciplinary, constructivist learning models, and must be excited to partner with the Middle School Mandarin teacher to shape a growing program.  Classes might include interdisciplinary work in history, art, film, or literature.  Candidates must be up-to-date with current materials and approaches of the field.  A successful candidate will be interested in the life of the school beyond the classroom, will enjoy advising students and will bring enthusiasm to the school’s rich co-curriculum.  Native speaker preferred – experience in independent schools or a similar community required.
