Health/Life Skills

The Health and Life Skills curriculum in Middle School provides students with the tools they need to navigate the myriad challenges they face during this dynamic period of growth in their lives.  At the heart of the program is a commitment to providing a strong foundation of knowledge that the students can use throughout their lives. 

Please note that all topics will be dealt with in a manner that is developmentally appropriate for the students at each grade level.

Content areas include:

  • Mental/Emotional Health
  • Nutrition
  • Physical Activity
  • Safety
  • Personal Health and Wellness
  • Tobacco
  • Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Human Sexuality

Skills that will be learned include:

  • Communication
  • Decision-making
  • Goal-setting
  • Critical Thinking 
  • Understanding how others influence us
  • Resisting Peer Pressure
  • Practicing Healthy Behaviors
