  Welcome to COUGAR NATION!

Interscholastic & Intramurals Programs

Calhoun's intramural and interscholastic sports programs are available to students in 5th-12th grades, with as many as 25 teams fielded in a given year. There are opportunities for team sports as well as individual competition. Calhoun is a member of the New York City Athletic League (NYCAL) and the Private School Athletic Association (PSAA).

See the Athletic Calendar for a month-by-month view of the team schedules, including games and practices.

See Team Directory for details about individual interscholastic team schedules, practices; intramural teams; and open gym clinics for Middle and Upper School students.

See Championships for list of titles won by the Cougars.

Interscholastic Programs & Policies

Respecting the student's total educational experience, the Physical Education Department administers the interscholastic sports program by requesting that participating students make a balanced commitment of time to team membership and to ongoing academic responsibilities. All 9th-12th grade students are eligible to participate in Calhoun's varsity athletic program. In certain situations, it may be possible for talented 7th ad 8th graders to try out for the JV or Varsity level teams.

As a member of the NYCAL (New York City Athletic League) and the Private School Athletic Association (PSAA), Calhoun's interscholastic sports program offers varsity competition in volleyball, basketball, cross country, track, baseball, soccer and golf. Junior Varsity teams are offered in girls' volleyball and basketball and boys' basketball. For Middle School students, intramural activities and/or interscholastic teams are offered in soccer, volleyball, basketball, track, cross country, and baseball.
