ASP Winter/Spring 2018 Registration will open Wednesday, January 10 at 10am.

For Cub Club (2-5) or Homework Help (5-8)Register for the semester, or fill out the Drop-in Care: Passes and Request form, redeemable for 5 days of as-needed drop-in care throughout the school year.

ASP81 registrants get 3 free "extended days" (care from 4:45-6pm) during the semester. If you require extended days on a regular basis, please register for that service, corresponding to the day of the ASP class(es) of your choice. Financial Aid is available to those who already receive assistance.

Gear up for weekly Central Park EDventures, including elements of fort building, back-country survival and wilderness hide-and-seek — plus an original variety of awesome outdoor games and activities!  Sledding, snow sculptures, etc. are also possibilities towards semester's end (weather permitting). This challenging outdoor program builds confidence, while encouraging teamwork, creativity and open-ended education. The possibilities? Endless. The experiences? Memorable. The FUN? Guaranteed!! 

Children will be outdoors, so they should be prepared for all types of weather. They will return to the school lobby at 5:30 p.m.

The mission of SOCS (Students Of Color Society) is to create a sense of community among Calhoun's students of color. The group will support students by nurturing their self-esteem, fostering positive relationships among students, and providing students an opportunity to feel part of a majority. In addition, SOCS acts as a comfortable forum for students to confront issues of race and ethnicity in developmentally appropriate ways. The goal is to empower students of color to bring their gifts, talents and resources to bear on their Calhoun experience. It is Calhoun's belief that students who feel supported, confident and proud of their identity will be better socially, emotionally and culturally adjusted, and thus more successful, fuller participants in the Calhoun community.

WIE (White Identity Explorers)

The White Identity Explorers is a new offering for white students who are interested in learning about developmentally appropriate concepts of race and identity. Participants will begin to define for themselves what it means to be white, while also examining their role in working for racial justice. Activities will include reading picture books, doing creative projects, and sharing of personal experiences.The group will be a place where white students can feel comfortable asking questions and affirming the feelings that are often specific to white students exploring identity.

Following athletic activities, students are brought home and released to a parent or designated individual. Join us for an energy releasing yoga class that’s just for kids!  We’ll work on basic and challenging yoga poses such as inversions and arm balances, group poses and partner poses including acro-yoga poses, yoga games and mindfulness activities, breathing exercises and more!  We’ll bend, stretch, balance and breathe as we strengthen our bodies and learn about ourselves - what makes us special, how we can connect to others and calm our brains and bodies.  Our class will end in deep relaxation where all of the kids will get yummy smelling foot rubs!  This is a great compliment to any sport or specialty, for the non-competitive child, and for any one that loves or wants to check out yoga.  Yoga mats will be provided. Please wear/bring comfortable clothes.
