Middle Schoolers Bring Home Five Medals from Science Olympiad Competition!

Calhoun Middle School students finished in the top eight out of 30+ schools in five events in this year’s NYC Regional Science Olympiad!

The Middle School took a team to the regional competition, held on March 2, at Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens. The students competed in over a dozen events.

The medalists were:

  • Duck Tape Challenge: 5th Place — Hilary B. ’23 & Jackson S. '23
  • Experimental Design: 7th Place — Liam B. '23, Nathalie C. '23, Theadora L. '23
  • Heredity: 8th Place — Hilary B. '23 & Nathalie C. '23
  • Herpetology: 6th Place — Tomas M. '24 & Arman Z. '23
  • Write It, Do It: 4th Place — Theadora L. '23 & Owen L. '24

The two teams were coached by Middle School science teachers Alba Polsley and Ardalan Parsa, and Middle School Administrative Assistant Hannah Scarritt-Selman '05.
