Upper School Science Students Design Experimental Research Projects

In the Upper School Experimental Design class, students are challenged to form a research project based on a personal topic of interest. They formulate their own questions, write their own hypotheses, as well as plan and carry out their own  experiments to examine and test their hypothesis. Some of this semester's projects include examining the effects of different styles of music on plant growth, measuring the impact of different levels of carbon dioxide on plants, evaluating the calorific value of different brands of marshmallows, and more. The course introduces students to literature review, the process of scientific inquiry, statistics, and a variety of laboratory techniques.
