Two Calhoun Cougars are making sports headlines beyond Manhattan!
Myles Wolf '18 medalled in three separate competitions at the Maccabiah-Maccabi World Union Games this summer, as a member of the USA Fencing team. Myles took a silver medal in Team Epee, a silver medal in Team Foil, and a bronze medal in Individual Epee. The Maccabiah Games, which take place every four years and draws athletes from around the world, celebrated the 20th year of competition.
In her first year season on the University of Chicago Varsity Volleyball team, Cougar alum Emma Griffith '17 has already made her mark: she was one of four UChicago athletes to receive UAA Athlete of the Week Accolades.
According to the article, the freshman setter led the Maroons to a 2-0 record at the Gargoyle Classic with wins over Carthage and Dominican University. Griffith put up 11.71 assists per set and orchestrated an offense that tallied a .279 hitting percentage in the pair of victories. She also contributed defensively with 4.14 digs per set. Griffith posted 49 assists with 17 digs in the four-set win over Dominican.
This remarkable performance comes as no surprise to Calhouners, who watched Emma help push the Cougar Girls' Varsity Volleyball team to NYCAL championship titles every year during her high school career.
