Science

The goals in elementary science are to inspire students to love science, to understand that the world around them is knowable, and to learn how to find the answers. The guiding principle is that science is best learned by doing, and so students spend a lot of time conducting experiments and exploring through hands-on investigations.

In fourth grade, students learn about the physical and chemical properties of matter, through guided inquiry-based units that include the testing and analysis of mystery compounds. Fifth grade includes study of electricity and magnetism, with a variety of inquiry-based experiments to see these principles in action.
