Science

Students in both early-childhood tracks have explored biology and studied the plant and water cycles. By time they reach the elementary years, the focus is on lab science. Students have ample opportunities with experimentation and research in a lab classroom to help them more deeply understand scientific concepts.

Overarching goals in elementary science include inspiring students to love science, understanding that the world around them is knowable, and learning how to find the answers. The guiding principle is that science is best learned by doing, and so students spend a lot of time conducting experiments and exploring through hands-on investigations.

Fourth grade units include learning about the physical and chemical properties of matter, through guided inquiry-based units that include the testing and analysis of mystery compounds.
