Science Electives
  • Science Olympiad: This is a science and inquiry-based elective where the class will start prep work for the Science Olympiad competition held in March. The goal for this elective is to prepare for all events offered at the competition. These challenging and motivational events are a balance of various science disciplines— biology, earth science, chemistry, physics and technology. All events require teamwork, group planning and cooperation. The emphasis is on learning, participation, interaction, having fun and developing team spirit.

  • Computer Programming: This elective is an overview of computer science. Students will first learn basic HTML. However, the focus of the class will be on learning how to create interactive programs in JavaScript. Students will learn commands that are the building blocks of programming in any language. We will create simple programs for which the user can make selections and affect outcomes (for example, a mad lib game). We will also do some 3D design using TinkerCAD. This class is meant as an introduction, so no prior experience is needed.
