Calhoun’s community service learning program is designed to foster compassion and respect for others while inspiring students to become active participants in the world beyond the school. In community service courses, Upper Schoolers partner with organizations, develop their own service projects, and strive toward achieving a purpose for the greater good by working with their community and each other. Along the way, we support students’ growth and awareness of equity, collaboration and citizenship, teaching them how to apply their newly acquired skills in an authentic and practical way.
In addition to volunteering outside of school, Upper School students have opportunities to engage in community service by taking one or more of the following elective courses:
- Community Action
- Hunger & Homelessness
- Students Teacher Students
