Theater

The Upper School theater curriculum focuses on developing student voice and self-expression in a collaborative environment. In performing arts classes, students are asked to connect with who they are and expand their empathy and understanding of themselves and others – and then, to express that understanding in a new way.

Producing three after-school productions each year, Upper Schoolers at Calhoun are able to explore a wide range of styles and content, and are often the driving forces behind each of the shows we do. Students are encouraged to participate in a variety of ways including performance, writing, directing, producing and designing, with the primary focus on exploring our humanity through art. The hope is that through the arts, students can rewrite the world and fill it with the stories needed for their future.
