New York is the quintessential multicultural and multilingual city. Through language-learning, our goal is to connect Upper Schoolers to the cultural heritages that inform their city. In our classes, students learn grammar and vocabulary structures through a communicative approach that allows them to explore their interests. We also practice these skills through field trips and projects that invite students to engage in real-life conversations and become immersed in the cultures of the languages they are studying. A multimedia-based and technology-assisted curriculum facilitates language acquisition, and students engage in varied interactive activities and personalized projects.
