Elementary Classroom

Elementary (1st-3rd grades)

In Calhoun’s Elementary program, children continue to grow as confident, independent learners and engaged members of their community. In 1st-3rd grades, students are empowered to build self-awareness, explore their unique interests, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves as individuals and as part of a larger world.

Hands-on learning is at the heart of our Elementary program, with expert teachers tailoring lessons to match each child’s learning style and interests. Through dynamic projects that integrate multiple disciplines, children make real-world connections that bring learning to life. Whether they’re creating urban utopias from recycled materials or simulating a classroom economy for a math project, students have ample opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge in meaningful ways. This approach fosters a sense of ownership over their learning and sparks a deeper investment in their education.

In the elementary years, students are encouraged to pursue topics that excite them, while also advancing in core subjects. With the guidance of their teachers, they have the flexibility to dive deeper into their passions while staying on track with their academic growth. This balance of independence and support prepares students for a lifelong love of learning, and equips them with the tools they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
