LS Students Explore the Power of Changemakers

For our annual Lower School Changemaker Assembly, each K–4 cluster presented on a changemaker—someone who has used their voice and platform to make the world a better place. As part of the unit, students collaborated to research their changemaker’s life and impact, then shared their learning with peers.

Changemakers were organized into three themes—Arts & Powerful Words, Leadership, and Community & Starting Small—and presentations ranged from videos and original poems to visual art and music. The Changemaker unit is a hallmark of our Lower School social studies program, which centers social justice and identity development. Through projects like this, students learn to value diverse perspectives, cultivate cultural curiosity, and begin to see themselves as thoughtful stewards of the world.
