Director of Enrollment & Relationships
Andrew has been a teacher, coach and administrator at Calhoun since 2003. His previous experience includes serving as director of admissions at the College School in St. Louis, Missouri, and leading summer camps in public schools and parks as a regional director for Oasis Children’s Services. Andrew is passionate about adventure education, youth sports and supporting an equitable child welfare system. He has a BA from Knox College.
Andrew’s hobbies include coaching and playing baseball, and watching and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals. If he could be a Calhoun student, he would most want to take Math in Sports, an Upper School elective.

Director of Admissions
Jessy joined the Calhoun community in 2020 after a decade of experience in admissions, recruitment, communications, teaching and equity work in NYC independent schools. Prior to Calhoun, he served as associate director of admissions and financial aid at Speyer Legacy School. Jessy also spent nine years with Prep for Prep; prior to that he worked in the middle division at Horace Mann School. Jessy is is an alum of Prep for Prep and Choate Rosemary Hall. He has a bachelor’s in marketing from Boston College and a master’s in educational leadership from New York University.
When he’s not at Calhoun, Jessy is an avid sports fan who cheers for the Yankees, Jets, and the Águilas Cibaeñas baseball team from his parents' hometown in the Dominican Republic.

Assistant Director of Admissions, 9th-12th Grade
Shameena has been a part of the Admissions team at Calhoun since 2011. She has a BA in women and gender Studies from Bates College and a MA in sociology and education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Shameena is a fitness enthusiast, and you can often find her waking up early to take 5am classes in yoga, pilates, boxing or rugby. If she could be a Calhoun student, she would most want to take the Upper School electives Race and Housing or Digital Photography.

Assistant Director of Admissions, 3rd-8th Grade
Robin joined Calhoun’s admissions team more than two decades ago and is the proud parent of two Calhoun alumni. Her education was grounded in science; she has B.Sc. from Western University, London, Ontario and a M.Sc. from Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario. She is also an associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music at the University of Toronto.
Robin’s most memorable educational experience was being a high school participant in the Canadian Science Fair Exposition. Her hobbies include swimming and canoeing in freshwater lakes, and sewing all things home décor.

Assistant Director of Admissions, Preschool-2nd Grade
Shnieka joined the Admissions team in 2020. Previously, she was a Calhoun teacher in the Lower School—Early Childhood division. Shnieka is a graduate of Bank Street College of Education. Her teaching experience includes past work as an associate teacher at The School at Columbia University and as an independent consultant for the Partnership for After School Education.
Shnieka is also a freelance writer specializing in education, parenting and family travel. Her work has been recognized and awarded by the Parenting Media Association.

Admissions Coordinator, Preschool-2nd Grade
Casey has been part of Calhoun since 2003 and has worked in admissions for the past 10 years. She has a B.A. in English literature from Denison University. Prior to Calhoun, Casey held positions at Carnegie Hall and the American Museum of Natural History.
Outside of Calhoun, Casey’s passions include travel and food. Her most memorable education experience was spending a semester abroad in London and experiencing a new culture.

Admissions Coordinator, 3rd-12th Grade
Joanie has been part of the Admissions team at Calhoun since 2013. She has a BA in business Administration and completed the Alternate Certification for Teachers at Jersey City University. Prior to Calhoun, she worked in admissions at Columbia Grammar and Prep School in New York City.
Outside of Calhoun, you can find Joanie volunteering at the community garden on the Lower East Side, or impressing her friends and family with her party planning skills.
