If you could describe your athletic trainer in three words, what would they be and why?
Caring, passionate, selfless.
I would use these three words specifically to describe Jada because they perfectly embody who she is. Jada prioritizes the Calhoun community, she cares so much about all of the students. She makes an effort to connect with every student she possibly could. Jada also is our number one supporter at every single Calhoun sports game. She does not care what sport it is, as long as Calhoun is playing, Jada will be there cheering! Jada- you are an amazing role model and we are so grateful to have you! Thank you for everything, the athletics program and Calhoun overall would not be the same without you!!!

Can you share a time when your athletic trainer helped you return to your sport after an injury?
When I was out with an ankle injury for half my basketball season in 11th grade, Jada made sure that I went to go see a physical therapist for my injury, which is something I had never really done for any of my past injuries. She checked in with me consistently about my exercises and even allowed me to do my exercises with her through appointments and basketball practices to make sure I was being consistent. This was really helpful to me as someone who sometimes needs an accountability buddy for building habits. When I finished physical therapy sessions, she made sure to keep giving me exercises that I could continue doing for the rest of the season and while transitioning into playing again. I am extremely grateful for Jada and all that she did during that time because it was definitely one of the worst ankle sprains I had ever suffered and I know that I would have never fully recovered from it without her help.

What’s something your athletic trainer does behind the scenes that most people don’t see?
Jada makes me feel safe and confident when I play my sport at school. Whenever I had a suspicion of injury I could talk to her and it would wave that fearfulness away or she would help me overcome it. When I hurt my ankle last year, I remember her saying I was one of the first athletes she got to help at Calhoun and I felt honored. She helped me get back to volleyball as quickly as possible and we worked together every day during practice on exercises and stretches. She makes me feel more confident in my athletic ability and if I were to get injured I feel confident with her that I will return to my sport in no time!

Jada has gone above and beyond to communicate with us regarding our daughter's injuries. She has spoken with three of our daughter's physician's, sent written information to assist with her diagnosis and treatment, and kept us in the loop regarding her thoughts and concerns. We always know our daughter is in good hands and that Jada puts her health above anything else.
Jada cares deeply about her athletes and the relationship she formed with our daughter went beyond just her injuries. Jada supported and encouraged her through a series of injuries and our daughter just adores Jada and trusts her implicitly, as do we.
It is so difficult to sit on the sidelines watching our child get injured, and I felt so much better knowing she was in Jada's capable hands.
