Varsity Cross Country

Our Varsity Cross Country teams – both Boys/Non-Binary Students and Girls/Non-Binary Students – came in fourth overall. Zach P. '24 dominated throughout the season, winning every race in NYCAL competition, including the championship meet with a time of 18:24.7. Simone A. '27 finished third in the NYCAL championship, and Monte G. '25, Freddy D. '26, Prince W. '27 and Selin O. '25 all ran personal bests. At the NYSAIS championship meet on November 6, Zach P. '24 finished 19th in the state with a time of 17:57.2.

Varsity Boys/Non-Binary Students Soccer

The Varsity Boys/Non-Binary Students Soccer team cultivated a good community that allowed for collective and individual improvement throughout the season. The team's league game against Browning was "overall our best collective performance," writes coach Daniel Gutierrez.  As he continued, "Even though the results weren’t in our favor...the team was working hard and the players were fighting every ball. It was the first game I noticed that we were applying what we cover in practice, including passing combinations and creating runs and spaces." The team's three captains led their peers well – Mouhamadou K. '24 motivated the team and put everyone in a positive mindset before practices and games, Chosen M-K. '25 was a very hardworking and committed player, and Achilles B. '26 helped his teammates to improve their footwork and any skills they had trouble with.

Varsity Girls/Non-Binary Students Soccer

The Varsity Girls/Non-Binary Students Soccer team finished sixth in NYCAL league play. Highlight wins for the team include their dominant victories against Heschel (9-0) on September 21 and Brooklyn Friends (6-0) on October 5. They also won their game against Trevor Day (4-2) on September 27; coach Meghan Chidsey cites this win as one of the best moments of the season. Seniors Asha S. and Ella D. set amazing examples, leading to a positive team culture and chemistry.

Varsity Girls/Non-Binary Students Tennis

The Varsity Girls/Non-Binary Students Tennis team had a strong season, finishing fifth in NYCAL league play. Highlight wins for the team include their 4-1 victories against Lycée for the team's Homecoming match in September, followed by another win in October.

Varsity Girls/Non-Binary Students Volleyball

The Varsity Girls/Non-Binary Students Volleyball team finished third in the NYCAL regular season, with a league record of 7-4. They hosted the NYCAL varsity quarterfinals match vs. Lycée on October 20, winning 3-1, before competing in a very close game against UNIS in the NYCAL semifinals. Kya S. '24 was a true leader throughout the season and she and the other seniors will be missed.

Junior Varsity Grey Girls/Non-Binary Students Volleyball

The Junior Varsity Grey Girls/Non-Binary Students Volleyball team finished first in the NYCAL regular season, with a league record of 8-4 – earning them a first-place seed for the NYCAL playoffs. On October 20, they hosted the NYCAL JV semifinals vs. Columbia Prep, winning 2-1. The following week, they competed against UNIS in the NYCAL championship.

Junior Varsity Green Girls/Non-Binary Students Volleyball

The Junior Varsity Green Girls/Non-Binary Students Volleyball team had a season full of growth and skill development on the court. They competed in several matches against area schools, and earned wins against Heschel and LREI. In the first game of the season, they won their first set 25-2. By the end of the season, the team dynamic was great, communication on and off the court was strong, and everyone was playing well and enjoying themselves. Alexandra P. '26 and Annika B. '26 both led well at games and practices.

Middle School Cross Country

The Middle School Cross Country team competed in six NYCAL meets throughout the season, including their Homecoming race on September 28. They learned the fundamentals of running and established a strong basis for future cross country seasons.

Middle School Soccer

The Middle School Soccer team had a strong season. In addition to earning a few wins and draws, coach Mike Zurkuhlen cites the team's narrow loss against Columbia Prep as one of the highlights of the season, writing "The previous year, the team had lost heavily, so it was good to see the team fighting back and it was the best game they played all season in my opinion." Ian G. '28 was a leader throughout the season, and Tanner. L '28 "was exceptional in every game he played." Overall, coaches supported the student-athletes on and off the field – encouraging them to have a positive mindset, enjoy the game, and further their understanding of how to play.

Middle School Volleyball

The Middle School Volleyball team was defined by the student-athletes' "significant improvement over the course of the season in both skill and mindset," writes coach Arisa Hirabayash. One of the turning points in the season came following their first away game at Trevor Day. The team wasn't used to being in a new space or on an unfamiliar court and did not play their best; in the away games that followed, they were far more prepared to play in a new setting. According to Arisa, the team's strongest plays were in their game against Grace Church, where the team consistently tried to use three touches and set up their hitters. Zoe F. '28 showed great leadership and kept up the spirit of the team throughout the season.
