Calhoun hosts the second annual Calhoun Jazz Fest on Sat., Feb. 24, 10am-4pm. The event is free and open to the public; RSVP required by Feb. 13.
The all-day jazz event features performances by ensembles from The Calhoun School, Trevor Day and Friends Seminary. Joining the event this year are the Independent Schools Music Association's (ISMA) jazz ensembles, made up of talented middle and upper school students from NYC independent schools, including Calhoun's own 730 Jazz Band bassist Aasif Perry '19. Ensembles will be rehearsing all day in preparation for an upcoming concert; Jazz Fest attendees are welcome to observe.
This year's Jazz Fest will also include workshops, master classes, jam sessions, group discussions and a talk on jazz improvisation by Grammy Award Winning saxophonist Ron Blake!
