Calhoun's 6th grade theater production class presents Scenes from the 6th Grade Curriculum on March 6 and 7, in Calhoun's 81st Street Theater. Both performances begin at 6:30pm. Admission is free and open to all.
Sixth graders have been exploring the elements of writing for live performance. Though a series of guided class exercises, the students have been writing, staging, and presenting their class scene work for each other over the course of the trimester. Students are adapting assignments from their English and theater classes into monologues and scenes for live performance.
This is a production project about process. Students will perform their work script-in-hand or from music stands–learning lines was optional.
“Plays are not written...they are rewritten.”
(An old theater adage.)
