Tupac and Victor have performed together over the past decade at the Stanford Jazz Festival, and are thrilled to bring their unique blend of musicianship to the Calhoun community. Tupac Matilla: Internationally-acclaimed Grammy nominee Tupac Mantilla, one of the most versatile and creative percussionists of his generation, has worked as a performer, educator and producer. Recognized worldwide, Tupac has appeared at major festivals, institutions, and venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Harvard University, Stanford University and Newport Jazz Festivals, among many others.
Victor Lin: Victor is the founder and director of the Jazz Studies Department at The Calhoun School, where he has been teaching for the last 18 years. He is hailed as "one of the foremost keepers of the flame in jazz today" by jazz impresario Jack Kleinsinger, and has been performing as a jazz pianist and jazz violinist professionally for 25 years. A former student of jazz legend Kenny Barron, Victor is also on the faculty of Columbia University and The New School, and has been a core faculty member of the internationally renowned Stanford Jazz Workshop since 1997.
