Dear Calhoun Families,
This morning, Governor Cuomo announced that schools in New York would remain closed through the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. This order applies to non-public schools as well, therefore it is now clear that we will continue with distance learning for the balance of the spring.
Though not unexpected, I know how disappointing this news is — for our faculty and staff as well as for our students and families. I'm not even going to try to sugar coat it. What I can promise is that everyone at Calhoun will continue to work tirelessly for the rest of the school year to deliver a stimulating, engaging and supportive experience for each of our students.
I'll follow up next week with some more details about alternate plans for celebrating the end of the school year and all the associated transitions that accompany it. And as I wrote last week, we continue to plan for a fall in which we expect to be able to once again welcome students and teachers back to our buildings.
In partnership, Steve
