Calhoun In-Person Summer Camps Gateway Testing & General Refund Information

For our in-person camps, we will continue to follow the current NYS guidelines for schools including social distancing, reduced cohorts, face coverings, hand washing and disinfecting. We will continue to watch CDC and NYS developments and announce any adjustments as our camp date approaches.

Please review the information below before enrolling.

Gateway Testing:

In order to more safely resume in-person camp, Calhoun will require that all in-person campers and employees be tested within the five days prior to the start of in-person camps.

Why are we doing Gateway Testing?

The premise behind Gateway Testing is that every person who is on campus when camp starts on June 14 will have been cleared by a negative COVID-19 test prior to the start of camp. This will greatly reduce the likelihood of needing to quarantine pods during the camp weeks. See more FAQs on testing.

How can the Gateway Testing requirement be satisfied?

The Gateway requirement can be satisfied in one of two ways:

  1. Send the results from a negative molecular-based test (i.e. PCR, NAAT) to camps@calhoun.org. We will not accept rapid antigen tests as a replacement, and we will not offer camp refunds for late test submissions.

General Refund and Withdrawal Policy:

All questions about refunds and withdrawals should be directed in writing to camps@calhoun.org.

  • Deposits are not refundable for all camps withdrawals after May 24.
  • Final tuition payment is due by June 6. Failure to pay will forfeit enrollment.
  • No refunds will be made after June 6. Please understand that we will have already planned to provide staffing and supplies needed for your child to attend the camp.

If you are due a refund, please allow up to 15 business days for us to process your refund.

COVID-19 Refund & Withdrawal Policy:

All positive cases or exposure to a positive case should be reported immediately to the camp teacher(s) and to camps@calhoun.org.

There will be a prorated camp refund if a camper misses part of a week due to COVID-related issues. For all other cancellations, our general refund policy noted above will apply.

For camps other than Movie-Making Camp, any case of COVID-19 by any camper or staff member in the group would result in canceling the remaining camp days (Movie-Making Camp would switch to online in the event of a confirmed case by a participant). Should Calhoun have to cancel any camp for summer 2021 due to COVID-19, we will provide a refund of 50% of the tuition for the remaining days of camp.

If you are due a refund, please allow up to 15 business days for us to process your refund.

FAQs on Testing

What kind of test will you accept for off-campus testing?
