Fall 2021 Gateway COVID-19 Testing

In order to more safely resume in-person learning, Calhoun will require that all unvaccinated and partially vaccinated students be tested within the five days prior to the start of in-person learning. All student athletes who are not fully vaccinated must submit a negative PCR gateway test prior to arriving on campus.

Why are we doing Gateway Testing?
The premise behind this gateway testing is that every unvaccinated person who is on campus when school resumes in September will have been cleared by a negative COVID-19 test prior to returning. This will greatly reduce the likelihood of needing to quarantine once we are back in-person.

How can the gateway testing requirement for students who are not fully vaccinated be satisfied?
Send the results from a negative molecular-based test (i.e. PCR, NAAT) administered no earlier than five days prior to your return to campus. to testing@calhoun.org. We will not accept rapid antigen tests as a replacement for molecular-based testing.

  • Upper School Earliest Administered Gateway Date: Saturday, September 4
  • LS-EC, LS-E and MS Earliest Administered Gateway Date: Wednesday, September 8

Please make sure the test results are sent to testing@calhoun.org no later than 4pm the day prior to your return to campus.

Where do you recommend I get tested?
LabQ has locations throughout the city with a 24-hour turnaround and is free. Some locations do not test on the weekend, so please plan in advance. You can find other suggestions here.

Please be sure to check with your provider before being tested that the test is molecular-based.
