Calhoun is now offering a dual-track early-childhood program. Families of preschool-through-third-grade students will have the choice between two curricular paths–Calhoun’s signature Open Inquiry track; or the Montessori track.
For one week between the last two mods, the entire Upper School participates in mini-courses that allow for exploration and intense learning outside of the standard curriculum. This year's Spring Session workshops included Art in New York, Marine Biology, Perfume Through the Ages, The Bite of Martial Arts, and many more!
Fifth graders have been working on a language arts nonfiction unit focused on the Brooklyn Bridge and New York City. In addition to meeting with Kriss Roebling '83, a relative of the bridge's engineers and designers, fifth graders also walked across the Brooklyn Bridge in preparation of writing their own stories.

Drawing inspiration from Henri Rousseau's style, the students channeled their inner artists to compose jungle scenes.
