The Calhoun Annual Fund

Like most independent schools, Calhoun relies on philanthropic donations to make up a portion of our annual operating budget. Tuition and fundraising together ensure that we meet our annual expenses which center around our people and programs. 

All families are asked to make Calhoun a philanthropic priority, which looks different for each of us. The Advancement Office offers a gift target for each family which you will see in a fall appeal email. Those targets are set based on prior year giving, and collectively sum the total we need to raise, but are only a suggestion.

Gifts can be made by credit card, cash or check, securities, wire, donor advised fund, family foundation, or Venmo. The Advancement Office can process a gift over the phone, if you prefer.

Strong participation illuminates a shared belief and trust in Calhoun. High participation rates inspire others to give and, in some cases, support proposals for grants from foundations or community partners.

Yes! While both programs support annual operating expenses, the Calhoun Annual Fund is the foundation of all giving at Calhoun – we ask that families consider supporting this program first. If you are interested in going above and beyond, we are grateful for your support of the Benefit. Funds raised through the Benefit are typically directed toward a particular program or initiative, such as financial assistance.
