Upper School Cohort B Gateway COVID-19 Testing

In order to more safely resume in-person learning, Calhoun will require that all in-person students and employees be tested within the five days prior to the start of in-person learning.

Why are we doing Gateway Testing?
The premise behind this Gateway Testing is that every person who is on campus when school resumes in April will have been cleared by a negative COVID-19 test prior to returning. This will greatly reduce the likelihood of needing to quarantine pods/cohorts once we are back in-person.

How can the Gateway Testing requirement be satisfied for Cohort B students and faculty?
The testing requirement can be met in one of two ways:

1. Submit a saliva sample to 81st Street by Tuesday, April 13 by 11am. Every in-person Cohort B student and employee will be given an extra test kit on March 18 for this purpose. Samples should be created on April 12 or 13, before arriving on campus. (As always, no eating, drinking or teeth brushing 30 mins prior and no mouthwash two hours prior.)
Collection windows for Cohort B:
Monday, April 12 between 8:30am and 6pm
Tuesday, April 13 between 8:30am and 11am

2. Send the results from a negative molecular-based test (i.e. PCR, NAAT) administered no earlier than Saturday, April 10 to testing@calhoun.org. We will not accept rapid antigen tests as a replacement for the PCR testing that Calhoun administers. Please make sure the test results are sent to testing@calhoun.org no later than 4pm on Wednesday, April 14. Learn more about off-campus testing requirements here.
