Winter Workshop Challenges US Playwrights to Create One-Act Plays in a Week

For this year's Winter Workshop, six Upper School playwrights had one week to write, cast, rehearse, and perform an original one-act play that incorporated the stage set built by Calhoun’s Theater Tech & Design class. The cast and crew arrived on a Saturday morning for thirty hours of rehearsal, preparation, and collaboration (and a sleepover at school!) that culminated in a public performance on Sunday evening.

Calhoun students can choose from a wide variety of music classes, and work in small groups with professional music faculty.

Calhoun’s theater program celebrates each student’s talent and creates a rich learning experience that fosters creativity, communication and collaboration.

In visual arts classes, students develop problem-solving skills, learn to work collaboratively, and discover the art of diverse cultures across history.
