We are pleased to announce that, following a comprehensive national search, Morgan Jenkins will join Calhoun as our new Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Belonging.

Morgan is a values-driven leader whose work reflects a deep and sustained commitment to equity and social justice. She brings to Calhoun a breadth of experience in nonprofit leadership and education, and an approach to diversity, equity and inclusion work that is strategic, relational, and grounded in service.

Most recently, Morgan served as chief executive officer and chief operating officer at True Colors United, a national nonprofit focused on equity-based solutions to youth homelessness, where she developed a comprehensive DEI strategy that transformed the organization’s internal culture. Her work in schools includes key leadership roles at Neighborhood Charter Schools, where she opened their second school in the South Bronx. She also spearheaded the organization’s first DEI strategy as chief diversity officer and continues to serve on the board of trustees.

Morgan is an engaged independent school parent and is currently a member of the Parents Association transition committee at Dalton. She previously served as the DEI liaison on Dalton’s Parents Association executive board, where she created innovative parent programming, collaborated closely with school leadership, and advised on key initiatives.

Beyond her work with schools and nonprofits, Morgan partnered with the U.S. Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire to create a speaker series on global inclusive leadership, and developed programming for Black History Month focused on Black contributions to industry.

Morgan holds a Doctorate of Education in executive leadership from St. John Fisher University, where her research focused on the role of independent schools in creating life-changing opportunities. She also holds a master’s in elementary education from Howard University and a bachelor’s from Syracuse University.

Reflecting on her visit to Calhoun, Morgan shared:

“With every single person I spoke to, I felt an infectious sense of joy and warmth. I’ve never left a school feeling so energized and full, which makes me thrilled to be joining the community. My life story is rooted in equity and belonging, and I approach this work from a place of service. This is work of the human heart, and this moment is an invitation to engage beyond the bounds of how we look at what it means to belong and form even deeper roots as a community.”

Diversity, equity and inclusion is one of Calhoun’s three school-wide priorities, and Morgan’s appointment is a meaningful step forward in fulfilling that commitment. She brings the vision, insight and care to lead this work in ways that center the student experience and engage all members of our community in building a more inclusive Calhoun.
