Benefit 2024 | Group Bidding Opportunities

Benefit 2024 will feature both a live and a silent auction. The silent auction is open to everyone, whether you are attending the Benefit or not, and opens for online bidding Monday, February 26 at 6pm! This year's auction features 175 incredible packages, including exciting group bidding opportunities, summer camp experiences, vacation home stays, sports and entertainment experiences, and so much more. Pasta from Scratch with Calhoun’s Finest

Have you always wanted to try your hand at making fresh pasta? For this unique experience, gather up to 24 friends in the Calhoun Commons and do just that! Prepare to learn from the best: Calhoun's Director of Food Services and Executive Chef Lisa Locke, Chef de Cuisine Jose Roman, and Executive Sous Chef Oscar Benavidez. Enjoy appetizers and wine in the Calhoun Commons while the team teaches you to make pasta from scratch. Plus, you’ll get a special, behind-the-scenes tour of the Calhoun kitchen and learn more about Calhoun's stellar food program and philosophy while spending time with our fabulous team of chefs!

Additional information and restrictions: Calhoun adults only, up to 25 participants. Available Friday, April 19 or Friday, May 10 from 5-7 pm. Approximately two hours in duration.

Exclusive Poker Night Extravaganza!

Ante up for a night of high stakes and spirits with the Calhoun Poker Club, a one-of-a-kind event for 30 lucky adults where the students become the dealers in an exhilarating game of chance and strategy. This exclusive event invites up to 30 participants to step into the shoes of high rollers, in the vibrant atmosphere of a professional casino - all in the heart of our beloved 81st Street! The students of Calhoun's Poker Club will serve as your dealers, teachers and hosts, ensuring a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else. All skill levels are welcome. While the cards are dealt and the chips are stacked, indulge in a selection of soft drinks, savory snacks and delectable desserts. Enjoy camaraderie and competition, while the melodies of Calhoun Harmony serenade you. Join us where luck meets legacy - it's not just the royal flush that will make you feel like royalty. Learn to Make the Perfect Omelette with Chef Neil Kleinberg of Clinton St. Baking Co.

Elevate your culinary skills with restaurant tricks that will wow your family & friends! Born and bred in Brooklyn, Calhoun parent and veteran chef, Neil Kleinberg, has cooked in New York kitchens for over four decades. Now you and your group of up to 15 guests can join Neil live and up close to learn the secrets of flipping and tucking a classic French omelet, including common mistakes to avoid and home cook tips. Mimosas and Clinton St. Baking Co. pastries will be served! 

Additional information and restrictions: Maximum 15 participants. Experience to occur in the Calhoun Commons on a weekend morning during the school year; subject to Chef’s availability.

Indulge your creativity with an exclusive floral arranging class led by Calhoun parent Lisa Fireman Dorhout, founder of Sadie Design Studio LLC, set in the enchanting backdrop of an UWS garden oasis. Fresh flowers from Trader Joe’s ensure that you’ll be able to recreate your masterpiece again and again, while learning the secrets of creating stunning arrangements, mastering the art of balance and color. Enjoy mimosas, tea and sandwiches, and take home not just a bouquet, but a newfound passion for the art of arranging flowers.

Wine Tasting for 15 with Calhoun Alum Kilolo Strobert ‘96 at UWS Boutique Studio 79!

Enjoy a wine tasting with the theme of your choice led by Kilolo Strobert ‘96, owner of Fermented Grapes, in the beautiful Studio 79, owned by Calhoun parent Marialuisa Vitiello. Enjoy light bites, delicious wines in a gorgeous salon that will transport you and your guests to Europe!

Two Hour Cocktail Party for 10 with Calhoun’s Beloved G!

Bid on an extravagant cocktail party for your friends, family, or both! Paloma N' Chow is offering a two-hour private cocktail party for ten guests with a premium champagne bar at the location of your choice! Includes a two specialty cocktail demo class, with acclaimed cocktail bartender and mixologist from the Bowery Hotel, Gerardo Silva.

Private Wine Tasting and Wine Class for 10

A private wine tasting and class with Wine Spectator Grand Award winning sommelier and wine professor at American Sommelier Association, Crystl Horton. Tasting and class last approximately 2 hours with a selection of boutique wines from around the globe. This is a fun and exciting way to learn about wine, taste through some boutique wines, and get tips and tricks to being the wine expert in any situation. The “class” part is interactive and entertaining - learning while sampling wines and really engaging in the culture and passion that makes wine so unique. 

Additional information and restrictions: Maximum 10 participants, must be 21+. Experience is approximately 2 hours. Options for space: 106 Ferris St. Brooklyn, NY; 50 West St. NYC; or any private location (apartment/house) in Manhattan the winning bidder arranges. Expires March 1, 2025. 


Group Bidding Information

There are a number of packages in the silent and live auctions that are great for group bidding – please have one person place bids on behalf of your group. Each party involved must agree to the highest amount they are willing to bid before bidding begins. Only one person from the group may do the bidding and that person will be responsible should any member of the group refuse to pay. Only one check/credit card will be accepted for payment. Must be present at Benefit 2024 on Friday, March 1 to bid in the live auction; bidders can participate in the silent auction remotely.
