I write from the 9th grade retreat, energized (thank goodness, given the activities ahead) by the warm welcome I received from so many students and families on our first day of school.
Today promises archery, hiking, boating and a climbing wall. Thursday featured several encounters with our crew from The Film Guys, a delicious lunch from Chef José, Chef Oscar and their teams, and too many trips back and forth from 85th to 81st to count. I met our resident Lower School bearded dragon, Sunny, agreed to an impromptu lobby interview with our 3rd graders, and watched cohorts of children enjoy a beautiful day in Riverside Park. I saw our seniors eat cereals my mother would never allow into the house. We all felt joy and the promise of a productive and inspiring year to come.
Going forward, I will use this weekly message to tell the story of Calhoun and to update you on relevant information as we deepen our partnership and strengthen our community. I also want this space to be useful; please reach out with suggestions regarding the type of information you feel it would be most productive for me to provide.
In partnership,
Celeste
