Fourth Graders Learn About Pollination Through Hands-On Activities

Fourth graders have been learning all about pollination in their science class! They explored the field of agricultural engineering, the role of insects in the natural system of pollination, and the technologies of hand pollination. Students dissected lilies and tulips to see the different parts of the flowers for themselves, with a focus on the stamen and the pistil. They also investigated why pollinators are essential to functioning ecosystems, before designing their own hand pollinators!
