MS Students Harvest Plants from Rooftop Garden for Use in Recipes

Garden to Table is a Middle School elective that focuses on the care and maintenance of our rooftop and third-floor gardens and integrates items grown at Calhoun into simple cooking recipes. Students propagate plants and harvest from the garden regularly, while learning how the plants thrive and can taste their best. After a recent harvest, Hannah Scarritt-Selman and her class used basil, garlic and tomatoes from our 81st Street Green Roof to make marinara sauce, which they paired with pasta they made from scratch.
