Our Lower School marked Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month with an assembly, ¡Celebrando Mi Gente!, that explored the meaning of “mi gente” and highlighted how our identity is our superpower. Students learned more about the inspiring legacy of Celia Cruz, and heard from some of our Hispanic/Latine third graders, who introduced themselves and shared where their families are from.
As part of Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month, the group of third graders also collaborated with the assembly faculty facilitators, Third Grade Teacher Gabby Montes, LS Music Teacher Mariana Iranzi and Spanish Language and Creative Movement Specialist Priscilla Marrero, to create a video. The students interviewed some of our Hispanic/Latine community members at 85th Street while practicing their Español. Watch the video
