MS Mandarin Students Practice Chinese Calligraphy

In Zhangguyi Dong's Middle School Mandarin class, students have been practicing the art of Chinese calligraphy by writing their Chinese names. Below, she writes more about the tradition and the work the students did.

Calligraphy in Chinese culture is not just about writing—it's a highly respected art form that merges visual beauty with the deep meaning behind each character. In fact, it's regarded as one of the most esteemed visual arts in China, often used as a benchmark for evaluating traditional Chinese painting. It's truly inspiring to watch our students immerse themselves in this ancient and beautiful tradition! They also performed “The Moon Represents My Heart,” incorporating the red handkerchief—a symbolic prop used in Er Ren Zhuan performances, representing tradition, culture and humor.
