Students in the Middle School elective Tell Us Your Story: Food Memories from Around the Globe research different countries' cultures and food traditions. Led by Rebecca Rosario and Hannah Scarritt-Selman, the class recently visited the St. Agnes branch of the New York Public Library to learn how to use its various resources as they conduct their research. Students discovered what the Dewey Decimal System is, how books are categorized, how to reserve materials (books, magazines, movies), and received their own library cards. The class looked through the library for books about countries in South America, the continent students are currently studying. Some Middle Schoolers checked out guidebooks, while others selected cookbooks to help them choose the dish they will recreate during class.
