Upper School Kicks Off Year with Community-Building Trips and Activities

The Upper School launched the new school year with two days of engaging, grade-specific activities designed to build community, encourage collaboration, and set a positive tone for the months ahead. The 9th grade began with an overnight camping trip to YMCA Camp Mason, where students, supported by senior Peer Leaders, participated in team-building games and outdoor adventures aimed at strengthening connections and fostering a supportive class dynamic. Meanwhile, the 10th grade spent their first days at Chelsea Piers for active, hands-on challenges, followed by a visit to the scenic Storm King Art Center, where art and nature provided inspiration and space for reflection.

For the 11th grade, the year began with a mix of thoughtful preparation and energetic fun. Students collaborated to solve puzzles at Escape Room Madness, sharpening their critical thinking and communication skills, before diving into a Junior Workshop preview and relaxed outdoor activities in Riverside Park. The 12th grade focused on Senior Kick-Off, a two-day series of workshops and reflections led by their grade reps, faculty and the College Counseling Office to help students transition into the school year and begin the college application process. Across all grades, these shared experiences helped spark new connections, renew a sense of belonging, and build the curiosity and momentum that will carry students into an exciting year of learning and growth.
