US Advanced Biology Class Dissects Frogs in Evolutionary Study

Upper Schoolers in our Advanced Biology elective are studying evolution and phylogenetic trees, which depict the evolutionary relationship between different organisms. To bring their learning to life, students dissected frogs to examine how their intestines and overall anatomy compare to those of humans. Even though frogs and humans are on distant branches of the phylogenetic tree, students were able to observe anatomical similarities during their dissection – evidence of a shared evolutionary history between the two organisms.
