Emily Capkanis is serving as the 2024 Adult Honored Hero at Take Steps NYC on June 13. Take Steps is an annual walk hosted by the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation that brings communities together, letting patients living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis know that they’re not alone. 

Emily, a Calhoun alum, teaches art in the Upper School. She also lives with Crohn’s disease, a chronic inflammatory condition for which there is no cure. Emily serves on The Executive Board, Young Professionals Committee, and is an active volunteer with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to finding a cure for IBD.
