A former Calhoun student band from the ‘80s, Capital Punishment – comprised of Ben Stiller ’83, Peter Swann ’83, Kriss Roebling ’83 and Peter Zusi ’84 – recently reunited to release their long-lost album, Roadkill. The group was featured in Newsweek and Rolling Stone talking about the band’s origins and their time as Calhoun students. The Calhoun community got an early preview of the album last spring, when Stiller and Roebling celebrated science teacher John Roeder’s 45-year tenure with a hilarious music video tribute, which debuted at the Annual Faculty Tea.

Though life has taken each of these alums down different paths – Kriss Roebling ’83 is now a documentarian, Peter Zusi ’84 a London-based professor of Czech literature, Peter Swann ’83 a justice of the Supreme Court of Arizona and Ben Stiller ’83 an actor – their reunion in Brooklyn last March led to the recording of some new tracks and the release of their only album, Roadkill, which they originally completed in 1982 while at Calhoun. 

The album was released on September 14.  In describing the experience to Rolling Stone, Stiller shared, “It’s such an enjoyable, funny thing to me… it’s the last thing in the world I ever thought would happen, so the unexpected nature of it is really fun.  And also the best part about it is, us as friends, being able to get together and play together again, and just reconnect.”
