Our kindergartners and fourth graders have paired up for weekly reading sessions. They began their collaboration by getting to know each other, before diving into a selection of books carefully chosen by the fourth graders. The weekly sessions complement fourth graders' classroom work of finding "just right" books, growing their reading stamina, and analyzing characters, events and themes in folktales and fables. The partnership also helps kindergartners to expand their literacy, listening and comprehension skills, while providing an opportunity to connect with their older peers.
